As we have traveled through Europe and across America, one thing has become very clear. Satan’s poisonous, sinister lies are spreading across the land at a momentous speed. His vicious attacks on churches and believers, especially those in leadership positions, are brutal and without mercy. Deception is one of his most effective tools.
Sadly, too many believers are being swept up in the flood of lies and allowing doubts and fears to drown out God's truth in their minds. Some are being lulled into complacency.
It's time for us to wake up and reject the lies and propaganda of Satan and wholeheartedly claim the truth of our Lord and Savior. It is time for us to stand steadfast in confidence that our Lord will keep His word, remembering He cannot lie.
The battle is fought in our minds around what we think and claim as true. We have a choice. We can choose at any time to think about what we want. We need to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal the source of our doubts. What untruths are we believing? Let us go to God’s word and see what He says about those doubts. Then, we can choose to reject the lie and focus on God’s truth.
I often hear, “But I can’t; it’s too hard.” This comment is valid on two counts. No one can fight the temptations and attacks of Satan in their strength. In fact, Jesus told us this was impossible. And it is too hard for our old carnal nature to deal with.
However, we have spiritual life and the power of the Holy Spirit living in us to give us strength, courage, and discernment. And we are to fight this spiritual battle in our spiritual strength. We could say it is all about perspective. “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18 KJV).
If we view all that is happening around us from a human perspective, we will be afraid, doubt God's words, and become indifferent to the mission given to us by Christ. We will feel helpless and defeated. However, we have a choice. We can choose to have a spiritual perspective. We can view the evil around us as the Lord sees it…a war between good and evil, a war between Jesus and His believers and Satan and his followers.
With a spiritual perspective, we can stand secure in the Lord and who we are as His children and His soldiers. “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might” (Ephesians 6:10 KJV).
Yes, the battle is hard, sometimes painful and discouraging. But we know the end, and we have the victory. Jesus already won this war. We are called to fight the battle in our lives daily.
If we choose to see this battle as an opportunity to demonstrate to the world that Christ is alive and powerful, to show our Lord our love by trusting and obeying, then should we not, with joy and confidence, fight? Now is the time, and for such a time as this were you and I born.
”Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 15:58KJV).
